Clayface

James Watkins’ *Clayface* deconstructs the classic Gotham archetype by transforming the shapeshifter into a poignant metaphor for identity fluidity and the tragedy of the marginalized. The film explores how societal rejection forces individuals to constantly reshape themselves, blurring the lines between villainy and survival. The climax shifts away from typical superhero brawls toward a somber, melancholic resolution, where the "monster" is not defeated but finally understood, leaving the audience with a haunting reflection on empathy and the human cost of changing one’s form to fit the world’s expectations.
