Ending Explained: Bad Haircut
The Haircut Nobody Asked For and the Cinema Nobody Deserves
💡 What does the ending really mean?
Billy discovers his barber is a serial killer harvesting scalps, gets strapped to the chair, and is forcibly shaved during deranged monologues. In the climax he breaks free, stabs the barber with his own scissors, then saws off his head with an electric clipper in a sloppy, protracted mess. Symbolically the ending insists the real horror is not the killer but crushing mediocrity itself: revenge is clumsy, ugly, and pointless. Billy ends up bald, hollow, and unchanged, exactly like the film leaves its audience—stripped of hair, ideas, and any reason this cinematic haircut was ever inflicted.
