💡 What does the ending really mean?

In the climax, the dog possessed by an ancient rural entity slowly devours its owner inside a barn while the man begs, desperately invoking years of mutual loyalty. The animal, now bearing disturbingly human eyes, vomits the remains and collapses to die beside the corpse, sealing a grotesque loop of betrayal and self-annihilation. Symbolically, the ending reveals unconditional loyalty as no salvation but a terminal curse: the “good boy” becomes the very vessel of the corruption it was supposed to resist. There is no redemption, no heroism, only the bleak confirmation that in this damned rural world nobody saves anyone, not even themselves. The canine nihilism feels as pointless as the film itself.
