Ending Explained: In the Tall Grass

💡 What does the ending really mean?

In the climax, the grass reveals itself as a sentient, time-bending entity that has trapped the characters in endless loops of death and rebirth. Becky gives birth to a monstrous baby that merges with the grass, while Travis, now fully assimilated, whispers to new victims in Patrick Wilson's voice, luring them deeper. The film ends with the cycle restarting as fresh prey enters the field. Symbolically, it represents inescapable cycles of trauma, addiction, and predatory evil that devours hope and identity, with the grass as an indifferent, cosmic horror mirroring how the past eternally consumes the present.
