💡 What does the ending really mean?

In the climax, Abe and Aaron's time-travel scheme unravels into paranoia and betrayal as they use multiple overlapping timelines to manipulate events, culminating in a fistfight, a recorded confession, and one character drugging the other to seize control of the boxes. The film ends with Aaron having retreated years earlier to a massive undisclosed facility in another country, endlessly refining the technology while Abe is left broken and alone. Symbolically, it depicts the irreversible corrosion of identity, trust, and morality once you start rewriting causality; the garage inventors don't conquer time, they dissolve into it, becoming ghosts of their own ambition in an infinite regress of self-sabotage.
