In the climax of REC, Angela and Pablo, trapped in the penthouse, confront the possessed priest who engineered the demonic virus. The creature lunges, brutally kills Pablo, then drags the screaming Angela into the darkness as the camera clatters to the floor and the frame blacks out completely. Symbolically, the ending is total defeat: the irrational, primal evil devours the mediated gaze itself. The found-footage format, meant to record and transmit truth, is consumed by the very horror it tried to document. No survivor, no catharsis, no lesson; only the absolute erasure of the witness. When the camera dies, so does any possibility of narrative control. The virus wins by silencing the story forever.
