Enid, the obsessive film censor, finally tracks down the infamous 'video nasty' that she believes shows her long-lost sister. In the climax she murders her boss, then stumbles into the film's nightmarish world, axe in hand, slaughtering her way through a surreal forest until she finds her sister—only to realize the girl is already dead and that she herself has become the monster on screen. The film ends with Enid literally stepping into the projected image, her face replacing the killer's as the audience applauds. The ending symbolically means that total repression and denial have devoured her: censorship doesn't protect, it transforms the censor into the very horror she tried to suppress, trapping her forever inside the madness she helped create.
