💡 What does the ending really mean?

The climax detonates when the Narrator shoots himself through the cheek to kill Tyler, then watches with Marla as credit-card buildings explode in orchestrated collapse, erasing the debt records that enslave a generation. The ending symbolically means the death of hyper-masculine delusion and consumerist identity: Tyler’s anarcho-fascist revolution is revealed as just another branded product of the same sick system, and the only escape is literal self-mutilation followed by the hollow spectacle of fireworks over a ruined financial order. Gen X gets the satire it ordered—nihilism that changes nothing.
