Ending Explained: The Flash
A Lightning Bolt of Incompetence and Scandal
💡 What does the ending really mean?
The climax sees Barry Allen racing through fractured timelines, desperately trying to undo his mother's murder without collapsing reality. He fails spectacularly: his meddling births the monstrous Dark Flash, who nearly erases existence until Barry accepts he cannot rewrite the past. The ending has him letting his mother die again, restoring a broken but functional world, and choosing to move forward. Symbolically, it's a bitter admission of creative and corporate bankruptcy. The Flash cannot fix the DCEU's timeline any more than Warner Bros. could salvage this franchise; the past is poisoned, the future is compromised, and all that's left is a half-hearted shrug at irreversible damage. A lightning bolt of defeat.
