Operation Tehran — The Last Excuse for Violence
An action movie that feels like a tractor crashing into a china shop. Sarcasm and disdain in every shot.
The year 2026 brought us a flood of big‑budget productions trying to sell us cheap heroism, and “Operation Tehran” arrives as the cherry on top. Guy Moshe, known for his attempt to mix thriller with veteran drama, returns with a film that smells of cheap perfume to mask a lack of ideas. The roster of production companies — Astral Future, Dreamtime, Oakhurst, among others — suggests a Hollywood‑scale budget, but the result is a flat action picture without a soul. I sat in the theater with the air‑conditioning at 5 °C, while a teenager in row 3 chewed popcorn as if it were his last act of rebellion. The sound of the trailers boomed like a pneumatic hammer, and the €9.50 price tag felt like a swindle when the movie began to crawl on a script that looks as if it were written on low‑grade toilet paper. Two hours later, my lower back hurt more than the characters’ guilt. With a cast that includes Zachary Levi, Liam Neeson, Wes Chatham and Titus Welliver, one would expect at least a spark of quality. Instead, the film leans on the fame of its names like a branded perfume covering up the absence of substance. Every scene resembles a stock photo: neon lights, chiaroscuro shadows and a colour palette that tries to be harmonious but ends up monotonous. The first shot that stuck with me was the opening: a drone over Tehran wobbling as if the operator had taken control after a binge. The edit cuts abruptly to a conversation where Tucker (Levi) says, “We have to finish this, or we’ll be left with nothing”—a line so generic it could have been generated by a cliché algorithm. The gunfire sounds like toy pistols, and Federico Bisozzi’s music tries, unsuccessfully, to give rhythm to the scene.
The best
- Larry Smith's Photography: An attempt to create light contrasts that, although inconsistent, flashes moments of visual elegance.
- Federico Bisozzi's Music: Some pieces manage to raise tension in the action moments, though they are scarce.
- Liam Neeson's Presence: His gravitas remains the only element reminding the viewer that this genre once had quality.
The worst
- Mark Bacci's Script: Manual‑style dialogue, lack of coherence and superficial morality that fails to convince.
- Guy Moshe's Direction: Ambition without substance, a vision that stays on the surface of grotesque artifice.
- Production Design: Cardboard sets and continuity errors that shatter immersion.
- Supporting Cast Performances: Forced charisma and characters without depth.
The Verdict of Claqueta Ácida
“Operation Tehran” is a tractor crashing into a china shop: noise, chaos and no elegance. You paid €9.50 and got two hours of greasy plasticine that doesn’t even meet the lowest standards. There is no redemption, only a long list of failures that make the film a waste of time and dignity. 💀

“Duelo editorial natural entre las visiones antagónicas de Valeria Von Doom y el consejo de redacción. "El guion cabe en la servilleta de un bar grasiento, y aun así sobraba espacio."
