Then there’s Timecrimes (2007), a narrative juggling act where Nacho Vigalondo proves that when money’s tight, ingenuity doesn’t just compensate—it steals the show. It’s not that the film overcomes its financial limits; it flaunts them like badges of honor, as if every tight shot, recycled location, and janky practical effect were part of a punk manifesto against Hollywood excess. And the irony? In mocking blockbusters, Vigalondo ended up crafting one of the smartest, most claustrophobic, and brutally human sci-fi films of the 21st century.
